Leda Krošelj jumps for bronze

25. August 2014 Nanjing 2014 Athlete Leda Krošelj jumped her way to a bronze medal for the Slovenian Youth Olympic team at the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China, with a jump of 3.90 m in the final.

A jump of 4.36 meters brought gold to Angelica Moser of Switzerland, with Robeilys Peinado of Venezuela coming in second with 4.10 m.

“My first goal for the Games was the A final, coming in the final eight. You always wish for the highest placement, medals, but I would not dare forecast the result in advance,” admitted the 16 year old member of the Brežice athletic club and said that it was a pleasure to compete before bleachers with approximately 20,000 spectators. Krošelj failed to clear four metres, which would have been her new personal best.

“I knew I had a medal. After that, it was hard to concentrate. I was hoping for a personal best. I need to get over four metres soon, it’s now my first goal. Maybe I can do it this year,” said the Slovenian athlete, with her coach Timotej Kostrevec watching from the stands.
