The penultimate day of the Games in Mersin again brings success to Slovenia

29. June 2013 Mersin 2013 As on the day before, the day got on to a great start for canoeist Špela Ponomarenko Janič with a gold medal in the 200 m race.

Slovenia also won a medal in karate at this year’s Mediterranean Games in Mersin. It was won by Juš Markač, who reached third in the up to 84 kg category. The busy day of competition continued into the afternoon for Maja Tvrdy, who successfully competed in the women’s doubles with Nika Koncut. They won a bronze medal after winning over Karin Maran and Xandra Stelling of Italy with 2:0 (12, 10).

 

Blaž Rola won another gold at the Games. A mere 18 hours after winning the doubles, he went on to beat Marsel Ilhan of Turkey with 6:7 (6), 6:2, 3:6, 7:6 (4) and 6:2 in singe competition. After winning the doubles match with Tomislav Ternar against Mohamed Haythem Abid and Malek Jaziri with 3:6, 6:3 and 10:5 on Saturday morning, Rola again walked out on the central tennis stadium after just 18 hours.
